Our Mission

image of a crowd of students outsideThe mission of the Office of Student Life at the University of Massachusetts Boston is to provide opportunities for student growth and development which complement the traditional academic mission in the classroom. We strive to meet the changing needs and demands of our urban commuter population by making successful use of university and professional resources.

The Office of Student Life is dedicated to:

  • providing opportunities for student leadership in a variety of settings (clubs/organizations, student centers, Student Senate, Graduate Student Assembly, etc.)
  • serving a resource for students for information about all Student Life and Student Affairs services and the University in general
  • facilitating learning and education at every opportunity (finding "teachable moments")
  • providing high quality support services which increase student satisfaction (tickets series, MBTA Pass program, locker rentals, IDs, etc.)
  • supporting diversity and civic responsibility
  • concern for the whole student (academic, social, spiritual, physical, emotional and professional).
