Do Homework on Campus
Understandably we have all hated homework since our kindergarten worksheets and although it seems useless, homework really is important. At the university level, if due at all, homework is collected and corrected only a few times making what you pass in almost sure to be a large portion of your grade. Therefore, taking adequate time and producing your BEST work should be a given.
The root word is HOME but homework does not necessarily have to be done at home. Consider sticking around campus to study or complete some assignments and you are guaranteed to see yourself getting lots more done.
Spending time on campus for homework is beneficial because you are away from the distractions of home: the kitchen, siblings, TV, the dog, parents, Facebook! Doing homework on campus also provides a perfect opportunity to hold study groups with fellow classmates and if you one does not understand an assignment they can simply stop by their professor's office and speak with them personally. (Insert Brownie Points!)
There are many quiet places around campus perfect to sit back, relax and get homework accomplished. There are almost always empty seats calling your name with a perfect view along the windows of the Campus Center, Healey Library and Ryan's Lounge (3rd Floor McCormack Building). Visiting your Academic Department's office is also a good idea; many have tables, chairs and computers for student usage.
If you need a computer, bring your laptop and plug in to an outlet. Outside the One Stop, extra electrical outlets have been added for student laptop convenience and receiving the internet should not be a problem as UMass Boston is a wireless system.
No laptop? Feel free to take a trip to one of the computer labs located in the UL level of Healey Library. All university computers are opened for student use unless stated otherwise and/or a staff member's personal computer. There are also computers available to Honors students in the Honors' Lounge.
