Windows on UMass Boston, sponsored by the Lampas Society and the Alumni Association, offers three opportunities to connect with the university's faculty and staff as they explore these intriguing topics.
Professor of Art History Emerita Ruth Butler will present Hidden in the Shadow of the Master: The Model-Wives of Cezanne, Monet, and Rodin on Tuesday, April 7, 2009. The event is sponsored by the Art Department and the Research Center for Urban Cultural History. The event begins with a reception 5:30 pm followed by a lecture and discussion at 6:00. It will be held at the Campus Center, Room 3540.
Assistant Vice Chancellor of Planned Giving, Carolyn J. Flynn, Esq. will present Keep Control of Your Assets and Your Life: wills, trusts, powers of attorney, living wills and healthcare proxies. Why you need these important legal documents on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 1:00-2:30 pm at the Campus Center, Alumni Lounge.
Finally, Chancellor J. Keith Motley hosts A Tale of Two Cities: Faculty Scholarship in Berlin and New Orleans featuring Professors Mary A. Oleskiewicz on 18th century Berlin and Lynnell Thomas on New Orleans past and present on Thursday April 30, 2009 at Healey Library, 11th Floor. The event begins with a reception from 3:00 to 3:30 pm which is followed by lecture and discussion until 5:00 pm.
The Lampas Society, established in 2006, is a society of forward-thinking individuals who have included UMass Boston in their future estate plans. Beginning in 1928, "Lampas" was the name given to the Teachers College yearbook representing the torch of inspiration lighting the path toward the ideals of the university. The Society recognizes alumni, faculty, and friends who support the university regardless of the size of their planned gift.
