Dear Donors to the UMass Boston Fund:
I am a senior at UMass Boston with a major in Psychology and minor in Biology. Though I am a senior, I do not anticipate graduating before next Spring, 2009, as I both work full time and am completing an undergraduate research project in the field of psychology.
The project is part of an intensive honors program that the Psychology Department offers to select students which entails close mentorship with a faculty member, a through research experience, and practice in writing a formal thesis. This project, while very difficult and consuming, is very dear to me as I believe it will give me the experience needed for a head start in graduate school, which I plan on pursuing to eventually gain a PhD in Psychology.
Your generous award has not only helped me monetarily in paying off student loans and the like, but also given me a sense of pride and accomplishment as I feel the award offers recognition for all the hard work and long nights I’ve put into my academic career.
