Although Robert’s parents encouraged him to pursue higher education, they were not able to provide him with the guidance he needed. The Urban Scholars staff counseled him through the often complex college admissions process. Inspired by his experience of helping low-income students like himself as a college intern in the Urban Scholars Summer Institute, he chose his career in education.
