When Tibetan refugee Tenzin became an Urban Scholar as a high school sophomore, her English was limited, but she had an unwavering determination to seize every educational opportunity. Buoyed by the help of tutors and the counsel of program staff, she excelled in her classes and graduated as a valedictorian at Monument High School. Currently on an academic scholarship, Tenzin is studying government and international relations at Smith College.
