UMass Boston is a great student-centered, urban, public university that stands with the city.

We are geographically and financially accessible to students of all means, ages, and backgrounds. UMass Boston has become the most ethnically diverse four-year public university in New England. More than half of our graduates are the first persons in their families to receive a college degree and 80% of our graduates remain in the area to contribute to the economic, social, and cultural vitality of the region.
Since the 1980s the populations of both Boston and Massachusetts have increased only due to an influx of foreign-born immigrants. Boston's only public university is a significant doorway of opportunity for these immigrants. An investment in UMass Boston is an investment in the long term economic and cultural vitality of our region.
