Tall Ships Atlantic Challenge 2009
The Tall Ships Atlantic Challenge 2009 is a spectacular event around the North Atlantic Ocean. Around 50 vessels will arrive by July 7, 2009 , racing their way to Boston from the previous layover in Charleston, SC. Once in Boston, the boats will be docked throughout the harbor at ten different locations. The fleet will leave Boston on July 13, 2009.

The Volvo Ocean Race is one of the world’s most formidable extreme global nautical adventures with a storied past, filled with remarkable accomplishments, immeasurable endurance challenges and the ultimate competition of man against the elements.
The race started on October 11, 2008 from Alicante, Spain and will take over nine months, cover nearly 37,000 nautical miles of the globe’s most treacherous seas, and stop in 11 ports around the world.
The Volvo Ocean Race is making only one stop in North America. Bringing all the excitement and spectacle of this worldwide event to Boston’s world-class waterfront destination, Fan Pier.

Boston Lighthouse Tours
Join a National Park Service Ranger, for one of the most exciting tours that the Boston Harbor Islands national park area has to offer! During this unforgettable adventure tour of Boston Light, you'll step directly from the boat into the past. Historic Little Brewster Island is located in the outer reaches of Boston Harbor providing unique views of the city and the surrounding waterways.

- Views of the park's three lighthouses: Graves Light, Long Island Head Light, and Boston Light
- A tour of Little Brewster Island, where you'll meet the US Coast Guard light keeper, view the light station structures like the cistern and oil house, and climb the 76 steps to the top of the tower for a close up look at Boston Light's Fresnel lens
