Vessel Reservations

Marine Operations maintains a fleet of vessel available for charter by (but not restricted to) the University Community. Among these vessels are, the all weather passenger vessel M/V Columbia Point, the 46ft stern buoy tender R/V Looney, the 22ft Boston Whaler and the 24ft Landing Craft. Vessel Support

Vessel support services include:  Power supply (120/240V), fresh water, small boat hauling, power washing, mooring service, diving inspection and boat tendering. 

Sailing

16 Cape Cod Mercurys are available for learning and seasoned sailors from UMass Boston and neighboring communities to sail in the harbor. Sailing instructions are available by appointment with valid UMass Boston ID or Community Membership Card. Participants learn how to sail as well as the necessary safety and maintenance procedures to make the sailing experience a smooth and enjoyable one.

Dockage

Marine Operations manages two dock facilities:

The John T. Fallon Pier located in front of the JFK Library. This is a full service facility including; shore power, fresh water, 31/2 ton crane service, locked entry, security and lighting, one 50 ft float w/gangways, 171 ft large vessel dock face, and a dredged access channel (-13 ML W)

The Fox Point Dock located in the Savin Hill Cove at UMASS Boston. The dock is weather protected and offers an 80 ft main float with three 60 ft finger floats for smaller vessels. This facility is fortified with steel pilings 50A shore power, and a quarter barge for secure storage.  

Moorings

Marine Operations maintains 30 inspected moorings for the University community.  

Fox Point Pavilion

Marine Operations has a beautiful environmentally friendly gazebo located at the water's edge, overlooking the harbor. The Fox Point Pavilion is open to the University Community and patrons of the harbor walkway as well as groups wishing to reserve the space for special gatherings. 

Boat Shop

Marine Operations has a full service boat shop located on campus with welding, machine  shop, wood working and engineering capabilities.
