Facilities

The Venture Development Center's 18,000 sq. ft. facility opening in fall 2008 is the result of careful listening to what our researchers need to be successful. Lead design firm Sasaki Associates Inc. has produced a schematic design for the facility as well as preliminary drawings of the furnishings, equipment, colors and materials.

The open, flexible design allows easily shifting from large, small and individual work modes. Two small group collaboration spaces, one large group collaboration/presentation space, temporary offices and labs (two dry, two with fume hoods, two without) and informal gathering areas. It enables you to move from insight to discussion to sketching, modeling, computing, experimenting then feedback and informal debriefing, all the while supported by advanced technology that enables different time, different place collaboration, high performance computing and security.

The Venture Development Center facility is for creative researchers from within and outside the university, to explore, develop, and test ideas that they care deeply about.
