  • Student government vice president, founder of the UMass Boston chapter of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, student representative on the university’s Strategic Planning Implementation Design Team

Albert Chen (’12, College of Liberal Arts) has served the University of Massachusetts Boston student body as its vice president and has served the school as the student representative on the Strategic Planning Implementation Design Team.

But as this social psychology major prepares to graduate, he says UMass Boston has served him well.

“Why UMass Boston? I’ve had the opportunity to engage in so many different issues and opportunities,” he says.

One project he’s particularly proud of is helping to lead a team of volunteers to New Orleans to work on the continuing rebuilding effort following Hurricane Katrina. After he graduates with a degree in social psychology, he hopes to work at an international nonprofit governmental organization (NGO) working on issues facing developing nations.
