The Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Memorial Bridge was lit up in UMass Boston blue during the week of June 15, 2014 in recognition of the University of Massachusetts Boston's 50th anniversary. The Zakim Bridge is an iconic Boston landmark that carries nearly 200,000 vehicles each day, connecting the city with its neighbors to the north and west.

With its modern cable-stayed technology and a design that hints at Boston's Revolutionary history, the bridge, like the university, combines the promise of a connected future with a reverence for the region's rich heritage.

The bridge lighting was the first official event of the university's 15-month anniversary celebration, which will conclude in September 2015, when the 50th class enters.
