How do I login to Blackboard Learn?
Visit the login page at All active faculty and students login to Blackboard Learn with their UMass Boston email account user name (the part before the @ sign of your email address, ex. firstname.lastname00#) and password.

To obtain your personal UMass Boston email address information, login to your WISER account and access your Personal Portfolio. All students who are registered in online only courses or web enhanced courses will receive an email notification when they are given access to Blackboard Learn via their UMass Boston Student Email account mailbox. All UMass students are given a UMass Boston email account.

I forgot my email account password. How do I reset my password?
Visit the Secure Password management Tool at and if you have created a profile, click Reset Password and answer the security questions you chose. Be sure to follow the password format guidelines when creating a new password. If you have trouble or have not created your profile, come to the IT Service Desk (617-287-5220 or on the 3rd floor of the Healey Library with a picture ID. 

Does Blackboard Learn work in all labs on campus?
Yes, all the labs on campus support Blackboard.

Can I connect to my Blackboard Learn course from home?
If you have a computer and an internet connection at home, you can access your course materials from home. Here is the list of  Blackboard Learn 9.1 Supported Browsers.

Can I use a mobile device to access my Blackboard Learn course?
The Blackboard Mobile™ Learn application gives students and faculty access to their courses, content, and organizations on a variety of mobile devices including Android™, BlackBerry® and iPhone OS.

Can I connect to Library databases from home?
Students enrolled in a UMass Boston online course are eligible to receive a barcode for access to Healey Library resources. UMass Boston library is a rich and valuable academic online resource which will allow you to do most of your research work off-campus. To access most of the resources you will need your barcode number found on the reverse of your student id card.

If you don't have a student ID card or are unable to read the bar code number you can send an email request to: Your request should include your first and last name, student ID number, course name and class number and semester. You will receive the address of the library web site. Barcode access terminates at the end of the semester. (Note: This service is available Monday - Friday 9 - 5 PM).
