Candidates for the M.Ed. in Special Education for Moderate Disabilities who are pursuing Massachusetts teacher licensure will be provided with a sequence of course work, field-based experiences, and practica to fulfill eligibility requirements as prescribed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
The coursework in the M.Ed. program includes successful completion of the mandatory capstone experience. This capstone experience is fulfilled within SPE G 692: Capstone Research Seminar in Special Education.
Candidates for the Graduate Certificate Leading to Initial Licensure in Moderate Disabilities will experience a subset of the coursework for the M.Ed. and can continue on to complete the additional four courses, leading to the M.Ed. fulfilling the academic requirements for Professional Licensure in Moderate Disabilities.
