Administrative Assistant in the Anthropology Department

Barbara Davis is the administrative assistant in the Anthropology Department. She received her BA in French from the University of Massachusetts Boston in 1979 and has worked in the department since 1980.

In addition to her duties in the Anthropology Department, she has been an elected member of the Holbrook School Committee from 1995-2017. She has been working on many educational and budgetary issues facing the public schools and spent several years as the committee's chairperson. In addition, she received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Massachusetts Association of School Committees on November 8, 2012 at their annual conference. She is a member of the Permanent School Building Committee and is steadfastly working on a new school building project through the Massachusetts School Building Authority which is opeing in the Fall of 2017. She has also been an elected town meeting member since 1993.

On campus, she was also a member of the Classified Staff Union's By-laws Committee working on drafting the by-laws for the union.

Laboratory Coordinator in the Anthropology Department and the Fiske Center for Archaeological Research.

Melody received a BFA in Graphic Design with a concentration in photography from Southeastern Massachusetts University in 1980. She received a BS in public archaeology with a minor in earth sciences from Bridgewater State College in 1992. She began working for the Anthropology Department while working on her MA in historical archaeology at UMass Boston. She received her MA in 2001. She brings her skills of design and photography along with public and historical archaeology to her job as lab manager for the Anthropology Department.

Program Coordinator in the Anthropology Department

Miles received a BA in Anthropology with a concentration in Archaeology from Millersville University of Pennsylvania in 2009. As a graduate research assistant with the Historical Archaeology MA program at UMass Boston, he worked on the Hassanamesit Woods Archaeology Project as a laboratory and field supervisor. After receiving his MA in 2014, he served as the GIS Supervisor for the Massachusetts Historical Commission until 2016. Miles brings his skills in public and historical archaeology and history, GIS and database systems, and intern management to his role as Program Coordinator for the Anthropology Department, where he administers externally funded projects and manages internships and community outreach.
