Undergraduate Programs

The communication major and minor are designed to prepare students for careers in media, public policy, corporate communication, human resources, advertising, and many, many more! A background in communication also prepares students for advanced degrees in communication, media studies, law and other post graduate fields.

The major in communication encompasses 11 courses, for a total of 33 credits. Students take four required courses, three electives in the department, and three approved electives outside the department. Additionally, all students must complete the senior capstone seminar in communication.

Students must maintain a 2.75 GPA across the four core courses to receive a BA in communication. Further, at least four out of six elective courses must be at the 300 level or higher. One elective class towards the major may be taken as pass/fail.

The Communication Department offers a six-course minor. Students must complete Comm 100, Comm 200, two communication electives and two outside electives. At least two of the electives must be at the 300-level or higher.
