Professor Janis Kapler has served as associate chair of the Economics Department for the past two years. She teaches courses on international finance, lately with a focus on the euro crisis, intermediate macroeconomics (in the era of "secular stagnation"), and multinational corporations. Professor Kapler is working with colleagues on a research project on the disastrous design of the euro as a single currency for 18 European nations, and the threat that current management of the euro could drag the world into a second Great Depression.
