Luis Jiménez is an Assistant Professor of the Political Science department. His main research interests are Latin American politics and social remittances, particularly the way that immigrant networks spread ideas about democracy to their home countries. Currently he's working on a book that explores the impact of immigrants in the internal politics of Mexico, Colombia and Ecuador. He has published in PS: Political Science and Politics and in Social Science Quarterly.
Before joining the faculty at the University of Massachusetts Boston, professor Jiménez taught at Mount Holyoke College in Western Massachusetts for three years. He received his PhD from the University of Pittsburgh in December 2008. He is originally from Guadalajara, Mexico.
