Dean’s Travel/ Research/ Discretionary Funds
The CLA Dean's Fund for Faculty Development has usually provided funds to support faculty research and creative activity through three funds, the Travel fund, the Research fund, and the Discretionary fund.
The Dean's Supplemental Travel Fund is available to tenure-stream and non-tenure-track faculty (with appointments of 0.75 time or greater) to support travel to present papers at professional meetings, conferences, or equivalent invited professional activities. These funds are supplemental to the Faculty Staff Union Faculty Travel funds; the FSU funds must be exhausted before funds will be awarded from the Dean's Travel Fund. For Fiscal year 2017-2018, there will be only ONE round of applications, which must be received in the Dean's office by 5pm on Monday, February 5th, 2018. The CLA Dean’s Research Fund is available to all tenured and tenure-track faculty in the College of Liberal Arts for research expenses including fees for database or library access, data sets, research assistance, or travel to archives, etc. A limited number of courseload releases are available in lieu or in combination with funds to not exceed $5,000. For Fiscal year 2017-2018, there will be only ONE round of applications, which must be received in the Dean's office by 5pm on Monday, February 5th, 2018. Dean's Discretionary Fund
The CLA Dean’s Discretionary Fund is available for small requests for research needs, projects, or events that enhance the intellectual life of the College. The maximum amount for a grant is $350 for any single request or event unless it is a joint application from two or more separate departments, in which case the request can be a maximum of $700.
