Departmental Distinction in Music
Susan Cunningham Campbell Endowed Scholarship (Music)
The Susan Cunningham Campbell Endowed Scholarship is a bequest to both the Boston and Amherst campuses of the University of Massachusetts. The endowment was set up in 2003 by the estate of Susan Cunningham Campbell, who had expressed wishes prior to her death to support music at the University of Massachusetts in perpetuity.
Jury Award (Music)
Each semester, a student whose jury examination exhibits the best preparedness and musicality is recognized with a monetary prize, to be applied toward future lessons.
Louis E. Roberts Memorial Prize (Theatre)
This prize is named for the founder and mainstay of the Theatre Arts Program, who is presently professor emeritus of theatre arts. An accomplished actor, a versatile director, a prolific playwright and , above all, an inspirational teacher, Lou Roberts led the Theatre Program for three decades and made it a place where the lively art of theatre in all of its aspects thrives. In recognizing the Louis E. Proberts Prize recipient, the theatre arts faculty honors and celebrates the graduating senior who has best combined academic excellence with artistic excellence in theatre.
John J. Conlon Memorial Prize (Theatre)
This prize recognizes outstanding service to the Theatre Arts Program in honor of Professor John Conlon, distinguished scholar, theatrical director/performer, and dedicated educator of UMass Boston theatre arts students. Throughout his long career at UMass Boston, Professor Conlon inspired and mentored both faculty and students alike while always encouraging active participation in the lively arts and setting an inspirational example with his tireless service to the department, university, and community. The prize is awarded to a graduating senior who exemplifies a spirit of dedication and service to the theatre arts, fellow students, and the community.
