Additional Information

Dr. Jones’ program of research and scholarship focuses on translating diabetes and cardiovascular disease prevention in regionally diverse American Indian communities by developing culturally relevant lifestyle interventions with women with prior gestational diabetes and their families. This work serves to bridge a common clinical divide between the obstetrical health and cardiometabolic health of childbearing women who experience significant cardiometabolic health disparities. Dr. Jones was selected as a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Nurse Faculty Scholar in 2014. With support from RWJF, Dr. Jones is extending her research to include women and families from New England tribal communities while continuing to collaborate with partners in the Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma. IN 2016, she was awarded the Rising Star Award from the Eastern Nursing Research Society. As a nurse educator, Dr. Jones is committed to influencing nurses to view women’s health, and community health promotion, more broadly, through a lens of health equity.
