Dr. Sheldon’s program of research is focused on cancer care, patient-provider communication, and international oncology nursing. Her postdoctoral and doctoral research focused on linking this communication with provider behaviors and patient psychosocial outcomes in oncology settings. Currently, she is working with colleagues at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to explore provider communication surrounding cancer patient cues of distress and link this communication to visit and patient outcomes. Dr. Sheldon is a member of the Honduran Mission Team – New Hampshire, a nonprofit organization which provides healthcare and educational support services to the communities around Juticalpa, Honduras. She was the researcher for the national PEP® team; Putting Evidence into Practice: Anxiety, organized by the Oncology Nursing Society to determine the current level of evidence for interventions for anxiety.
