Exploring Early Literacy Mentoring

Description:
This course is designed to explore the various dimensions of the mentoring role with a focus on enhancing critical early literacy knowledge, skills and understandings for teachers of young children. Students gain an understanding of adult development, stages of teacher development, and establishing mentoring relationships. Students also practice a number of mentoring roles, and conversations with mentees within the context of current early literacy research. The course is designed to help students connect observations with the Massachusetts Preschool Curriculum Frameworks.
