How You Can Help
UMass Boston students, faculty, and staff, as well as local businesses and all those who live, work, or learn on Columbia Point can support the Harbor Point Outreach Partnership (HPOP) in many direct and indirect ways.
Students can participate through:
» work/study programs
» service-learning courses
» volunteering through student clubs and organizations or independently

Faculty interested in designing service-learning opportunities for their students can contact Prof. Joan Arches and the Service-Learning Outreach Team (SLOT), a group of faculty and university administrators dedicated to increasing service-learning classes at UMass Boston.
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts allows state employees to volunteer for community service programs during work hours. Contact Human Resources for details.
Community Members & Businesses
Local businesses can make in-kind donations and all those who live, work, or learn on the Columbia Point peninsula are always welcomed as volunteers.
We currently have volunteer openings for:
- Elementary school tutoring and cultural enrichment programs from 3:30-5:30 weekdays
- Teen tutoring and youth groups between 6:30-8:30, Monday-Thursday
- Elementary in-school tutoring between 9am-4pm, Monday-Friday
