The College of Public and Community Service provides new and transfer undergraduate students with the same strong academic preparation as other UMass Boston students.  Our students enjoy the rich resources of the whole university and benefit from an empowering and effective education based on the application of civic engagement, diversity, social justice, and community to their major-specific courses.

Our emphasis is on the analytical and critical thinking skills essential to challenging the status quo, and on providing innovative new ways to address inequities that cause disparities in the quality of life in communities.

At CPCS, we encourage students to accelerate their learning and make a difference NOW by engaging with the community through credit-bearing courses.  We provide many opportunities for community service, outreach, research, and advocacy.

Our faculty and staff are dedicated to helping our students succeed in the classroom, and in the field.
