Welcome. We've created these pages for you to learn more about the University of Massachusetts Boston (UMass Boston), our students, and recruitment opportunities available through Career Services.
First, a little something about us. Did you know, for example, that UMass Boston—one of five campuses of the UMass system—is the only public university in greater Boston? That we're the most ethnically diverse public university in New England? And that we're nationally recognized as a model of excellence for urban universities?
As an urban public university, UMass Boston pledges to keeping first-rate education within our students' reach. We also actively engage our local, national, and international constituents through academic programs, research centers, and public service projects.
We are also a multifaceted research university—one with a "teaching soul," in the words of Chancellor J. Keith Motley. Our numerous research institutes and centers formulate policy, conduct evaluations, and counsel government agencies, public schools, nonprofits, and the business sector. Plus our facilities offer students countless opportunities to learn by engaging in research side-by-side with faculty.
UMass Boston has about 15,000 students, including about 4,000 graduate students, enrolled in these seven colleges:
- Liberal Arts
- Nursing and Health Sciences
- Public and Community Service
- Science and Mathematics
- Education and Human Development
- McCormack Graduate School of Policy Studies
Our alumni now number more than 80,000. Most have remained in Massachusetts to live and work.
