Admissions & Financial Aid

Chancellor's Scholarship winner John Carrigan

Did you know?

In-state students can get a full scholarship to UMass Boston and out-of-state students can get a $10,000 merit scholarship with a minimum (recalculated) high school GPA of 3.5 and at least 1270 on the math and critical reading portions of the SAT.

Last year we awarded $7 million in merit scholarships to over 1400 exceptionally talented UMass Boston students in varying amounts. Some awards are one-time, others are renewable for up to four years; they are available to new, continuing and transfer students.

Merit scholarships recognize your academic success and do not need to be repaid.

New Students

Incoming freshmen are automatically considered for scholarships. Preference will be given to students who apply for admission by the early action deadline (November 1).

Continuing Students

Apply a semester in advance for our continuing student scholarships.

Transfer Students

Transfer students should apply by May 1st to be eligible for merit scholarships.

One of the most important factors in receiving a quality education is cost. We also encourage you to apply for financial aid for additional financial support based on need.
