Kanter Conference Room
Completed August 2010
The Kanter Conference Room was the highlight of a larger renovation that took place on the first floor of Wheatley Hall in the College of Education & Human Resources (CEHD) which also included office space and a graduate student work space. The Kanter Conference Room contains “Tech II” level media and presentation equipment along with a small Library dedicated to the late Professor Sandy Kanter in her memory.
Neuroscience Research Labs
Completed August 2010
Renovations were done to Rooms S4-121 and S4-124 (formerly Physics Labs) in Science Center to create Neuroscience Research Laboratory space for two researchers who will study the role of hormones in shaping the developing brain. An interest in understanding the basic mechanisms of establishing a male vs. female brain as well as specifically gaining insight into the particular susceptibility of the developing male brain to diseases such as autism. A small Microscopy Room was added as well for use by both researchers.
Completed May 2010
After the relocation of the Computer Lab from 3-142 into room 3-143 of Science, Lab 142 was renovated for Anthropology. Minor demolition and renovations to upgrade the architectural finishes, casework, lab tables, flooring and ceilings took place as well as upgrading the emergency showers and eyewashes at the sinks.
The Computer Science Lab

Major renovations to Lab 143 on the third floor in the Science Center consisted of demolishing the old Nursing Lab and creating a dual purpose space which contains a high tech conference room with smart board and advanced audio-visual equipment. In addition the Lab contains computer work surfaces with the capability of serving 28 students.
Clark Athletic Center Upper Level Offices Renovations

Renovations to the Upper Level of Clark for a student center for UMass Boston athletes increased the office suite from approximately 1,800 sq. ft. to 3,200 sq. ft. The project also included the expansion and reconfiguration of offices for the athletic coaches and a large conference room fully equipped with telephone, data and audio visual presentation equipment. Almost all the existing electric boilers, miscellaneous piping and duct work was demolished and removed creating a 300 sq. ft. storage area for athletics.
Venture Development Center
Completed May 2009
The Venture Development Center was constructed on the third floor of Wheatley Hall to provide services, resources and a facility to accelerate research and development initiatives involving our faculty and students and their partners in industry and government. It incubates promising, early stage technology and life science companies in an 18,000 sq. ft. award winning facility, laboratory and research and development workspace. The center includes
- A reception and media wall for display
- Five soft seating areas for impromptu meetings
- Three conference rooms equipped for conferencing and presentations on 54' - 104" plasma displays
- Kitchen with complimentary water and coffee service
- Coffee bar and terrace overlooking the harbor islands
Completed April 2009
The project consisted of the interior gut renovation of the former Bookstore space for a children's fitness center at the Quinn Building, now called GoKids Boston. As part of this project, all mechanical infrastructure was replaced to create a 5,300 square foot center, with two offices, an examination room and a conference room.
