Toxic Use Reduction

UMass Boston has a strong emphasis on toxic use reduction. From not applying pesticides on the lawns to recycling paints, oils, computers, lamps, and lab waste to serving the Boston community as a City of Boston drop-off site for hazardous/universal waste, UMass Boston is committed to reducing the use of toxics.

Cleaning and maintenance staff use cleaning products that are third-party certified green cleaners. Campus dining uses cleaning solutions that reduce the need for overuse and waste.

UMass Boston hosts the City of Boston residential hazardous waste disposal drop-off twice a year.
