Server Administration

Description

Management of the Operating System, Anti-Virus, Backups for UMass Boston Windows based servers for the UMass Boston campus

  • Installing and maintaining racks, hardware, and firmware associated with the above listed servers
  • Performing Server operating system maintenance and upgrades
  • Designing and maintaining directory services for Microsoft Active Directory
  • Designing and maintaining authentication and access cotnrol services to these servers
  • Installing and maintaining server management software
  • Troubleshooting server problems and failures
  • Maintain current Anti-Virus software on servers
  • Maintain server backups and offsite storage for backups
  • Maintain Virtual Server environments

Availability

Service is available to all customers of servers management by IT Services as follows

Level 1 Services : Full Server Support (based on signed SLA)
UMass Boston IT is responsible for full support of the server including: connectivity to the network, installation, licensing, patches and upgrades of the operating system, server monitoring, and regularly scheduled backups.

Level 2 Service : Partial Server Support (based on signed SLA)
Provided on a case by case basis
