All workshop participants will be able to choose ONE master class to attend per day. A class selection link will be sent by e-mail to all registered participants. 

Note: Monday’s classes will be held 10:30-1:00 p.m. All other master classes will be held 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.. Classrooms TBA.

Vietnamese Writers Presentation  1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Room Y-1300 (University Hall, First Floor)

  • A Special Presentation by Visiting Writers from Vietnam on the current state of writing and literature in Vietnam. Featuring Nguyen Ba Chung, ​Nguyễn Quang Thieu, ​Nguyễn Thuy Kha, Nguyễn Ngọc Mộc, and others.

Roundtable: Joiner Writers’ Workshop – Past, Present, & Future  3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Room Y-1300 (University Hall, First Floor)

  • Led by Kevin Bowen, Martha Collins, and Fred Marchant, Friday’s roundtable will be an open discussion with all participants about the legacy of the Joiner Writers’ Workshop and ideas for the future. Come share your best workshop memories, writing stories, and suggestions for future workshops. A fun culmination of the workshop week and a chance to reflect and collaboratively strategize as a group about the workshops future. 

 

A Note on Participant Readings:

Sign up sheets will be passed around for readings during the week. Each participant will have a chance to read their work for 3 minutes. Thursday's 4:00 reading will highlight past Jeff Male winners and participants who have published books inspired by their work at the Joiner Workshop.

Join us for one of the best parts of the Joiner workshop!


Roundtables will be moderated discussions on special topics related to war and writing with several faculty and writers for the first hour followed by an open group discussion with all participants.
