A picture of the UMass Boston Interfaith Center Sanctuary, a shared sacred space for personal and shared group reflection, prayer, worship and faith-based activities. The center hosts two spaces for prayer, Ryan Lounge, 3rd floor of McCormack Hall.

Weekly Events and Activities

The Interfaith Center is open as scheduled for personal and communal meditation, quiet reflection, prayer, and worship in several traditions.

All activities are held in the Interfaith Center Sanctuary unless otherwise noted.

Open House: September 2017, Date to Be Announced!

Circle Time Meditation- Mondays, 11:30 AM - 12: 00 PM and 12:05PM - 12:35PM
     Mindfulness through Gentle Stretching, Breathing and Reflection with inspirational readings and instrumental music.
     No Prior Experience or Expertise Is Required!

Zen Meditation – Tuesdays, 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM
Meditation in the Zen tradition led by Prof. Julie Nelson, Co-Coordinator. Email for more information,

Explore meditation practice in the Zen tradition. No prior experience is necessary. Come promptly at 12:30 PM for an orientation if you are new to Zen meditation practice, or a few minutes later to join the group in a brief reading, quiet sitting, and optional discussion.

Catholic Mass- Wednesdays & Thursdays at 12:30 PM
Mass is offered each Wednesday and Thursday in the Interfaith Center Sanctuary. Masses last approximately 30 minutes to fit the busy schedules of students, staff and faculty. It is located in McCormack Hall, 3rd floor off the Ryan Lounge. All are welcome!

Catholic Sacramental Prep & Liturgical Minister Training

Are you a Catholic looking to receive the sacraments of First Communion or Confirmation? Each spring, Cardinal Sean O’Malley celebrates a special Mass confirming college students in the area. Or would you like to be trained to be a Eucharistic Minister and/or Reader at Mass? If so we can help! Contact Deacon Tran (617.287.5839).

Bible Study and Worship - Oasis Time – Wednesdays, 3:30 PM- 4:30 PM
Sponsored Oasis of Faith Campus Ministries and led by Rev. Adrienne Berry-Burton
No Prior Experience or Expertise Is Required! We will be reading the Psalms, reflecting, praying, coloring reflection sheets, and sharing.

Gospel Choir – Fall 2017 - Mondays 3:00 - 4:30 PM  Choir will resume on September 11, 2017.

Sign up with a Gospel Choir member or come by the Sanctuary. The choir performs many songs a'cappella, however, volunteer musicians are welcome. An audition is required. Consistent Attendance at rehearsals is a must. For more information contact the Advisor – Rev. Adrienne Berry-Burton.

Faith Alive! Interfaith Council – Day and Time to Be Announced. The Council will resume in the Fall of 2017.

Daily Prayers in the Muslim Tradition: The sacred space of the Interfaith Center has been extended to include an area in the Ryan Lounge for use throughout the busy day.

Faith-Based Clubs There are several faith-based student formed clubs on campus, often with leadership from off-campus denominations and organizations.
