Wally Soper is the administrative coordinator for the UMass Boston Boston Labor Resource Center. He is an alumnus of UMass Boston, graduating in 1989 with a BA in labor studies and a concentration in economics. He received his Certificate in Dispute Resolution from UMass Boston's Master’s Program in Dispute Resolution in 1993. Soper works on special projects under our Future of Work grant, coordinates the “Thinking Big-Moving Forward bi-annual program as well recruitment and retention for our Labor Studies Certificate as well the Labor Studies Minor and BA that will reopen in fall 2016. Soper has been an activist in the labor movement for many years and has organized union locals and activists with the United Farm Workers (UFW), the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), the Communication Workers of America (CWA), and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). He is active at UMass Boston with the Classified Staff Union (CSU), affiliated with the Mass Teachers Association (MTA).
