Martha Kanter, US Under Secretary of Education, Will Appear On Sunday’s Episode

U.S. Under Secretary of Education Martha Kanter, the second-ranking official in the Department of Education, will appear on WUMB 91.9 FM’s award-winning program Commonwealth Journal on Sunday, October 14.

As the top deputy to Education Secretary Arne Duncan, Under Secretary Kanter oversees postsecondary education, federal student aid, and adult and career-technical education. She visited the University of Massachusetts Boston earlier this month to a deliver a talk on college affordability.

Under Secretary Kanter will discuss college access, affordability, quality and completion with this week’s host, Rachel Rubin, chair of the American Studies Department at UMass Boston.

Commonwealth Journal, a public affairs program exploring topics of particular interest to Massachusetts, airs every Sunday night at 7 p.m. on 91.9 FM in the Boston area, or online at www.wumb.org.
