UMass Boston Hosts 2.62 Mile Run/Walk for Marathon Victims

Proceeds from Event to Go to The One Fund Boston

UMass Boston is inviting students, faculty, staff, and community members to participate in the UMass Boston Strong 2.62 Mile Run/Walk on Thursday to raise money for the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.

The event starts at noon on Thursday, May 16, at the Fox Point Pavilion, which is located on the HarborWalk across from the university’s short-term parking lot.

Runners and walkers can register in advance at the Beacon Fitness Center, located on the first floor of McCormack, through 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 14. Race-day registration will be available at Fox Point Landing until 11:45 a.m. Thursday.

The entry fee is $5, with all proceeds going to The One Fund Boston. Runners and walkers will be assigned a starting time, which will be based on age and gender. Rules are available online. Participants must sign a waiver form before they can race.

The race course is on the HarborWalk, so vehicle traffic will not be affected.
