Pratyush Bharati, associate professor and chair of the Management Science and Information Systems Department, has been awarded the 2013-2014 Fulbright grant to study social media and innovation as a senior researcher in India.
Professor Bharati will be conducting this research while at the Indian Institute of Management in Bangalore.
Social media has seen exponential growth, with blogs, Facebook, and LinkedIn becoming widely used by employees in organizations. While social media has changed the way people communicate, organizations are struggling to successfully incorporate these technologies and develop their innovation capabilities.
As a Fulbright senior researcher, Professor Bharati will be studying this phenomenon and attempt to address theoretical challenges of organizational innovation in times of social media. He will conduct an empirical study to investigate how social media connects people in organizational social networks and the potential to facilitate collaborative knowledge creation for innovation.
