Little East Conference Games Start This Week
For the first time in the history of University of Massachusetts Boston athletics, two sports teams are competing in the Little East Conference Tournament as No. 1 seeds.
Both the women’s soccer team (16-2) and women’s volleyball team (15-11) will host semi-final matches on Saturday. Both squads earned first-round byes in this year’s tournaments after posting 6-1 conference records during the regular season. This is the volleyball team’s fourth regular season conference title and the soccer team’s first.
“This team continues to break records and make history,” said Amy Zombeck, head coach of the women’s soccer team. “This accomplishment is for every player who has worn a UMass Boston women's soccer jersey. I am so proud of this team. They have come together, worked hard, and deserve this.”
The soccer team will face fourth-seeded Keene State College on Saturday at noon at Clark Athletic Center Field.
The volleyball team will face fifth-seeded Rhode Island College on Saturday at noon at Quincy High School. The Clark Athletic Center Gym is undergoing renovations.
