Independent Study
Undergraduates and graduate students from around the world conduct research at the UMass Boston Nantucket Field Station. Topics include everything from the historical architecture of African Americans living on Nantucket in the 19th and 20th centuries, to the genetic diversity of gray seals (Halichoerus grypus) and everything in between.
To request information about conducting work on island, use of the lab and housing options available through the Nantucket Field Station, please email Yvonne Vaillancourt. Be sure to include a description your project or area of expertise. Each year the Nantucket Biodiversity Initiative gives small grants for independent study.
