Men’s Hockey Clears First Hurdle in Bid for Conference Title

The UMass Boston men’s hockey team earned a spot in this Saturday’s ECAC East conference semifinals by besting Skidmore College 11-1 over the weekend.

Seven different Beacons combined for the 11 goals, the most the team has ever scored in a postseason game, and with his 23 saves, junior goaltender Billy Faust of Alta Lorna, California, improved to 13-0-1 on the season. The No. 2 seeded Beacons face No. 3 Babson College on Saturday at 4 p.m. in the Beacons Ice Arena.

Women’s Hockey Enters Saturday’s ECAC East Quarterfinals as No. 6 Seed

The No. 6 seeded Beacons will face No. 3 Manhattanville College in Rye, New York, on Saturday for the ECAC East conference quarterfinals. The team honored their 11 seniors – the largest class in program history – before Saturday’s game against the University of New England.

Women’s Basketball Finishes Regular Season With Program-Best 17 Wins

The women’s basketball team clinched their best record in program history on Saturday with a 64-48 win over Western Connecticut State University. With their 17-8 overall record and 9-5 conference record, the women will have the No. 3 seed when the Little East Conference Tournament begins on Tuesday. They will once again host Western Connecticut State University, seeded No. 6, in a 7 p.m. start.

Riding Four-Game Win Streak, Men’s Basketball Begins LEC Play

After winning their last four games, including Saturday’s game against Western Connecticut State University, men’s basketball will be the No. 6 seed in the LEC tournament. The Beacons will face No. 3 UMass Dartmouth in Dartmouth on Tuesday at 7:30.

High Jumper Hart Finishes Third at New England Regional Championship

Senior high jumper Tylor Hart of Newton finished third in the high jump at the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championship on Saturday. Hart cleared 6-06.00 feet. The week before, Hart finished in second place at the 2015 Little East Conference/New England Alliance Indoor Championship meet. Junior Anisha Trappier earned a gold medal in the 60-meter dash at the same event.

Men’s Lacrosse Opens Season on Wednesday

Men’s lacrosse opens the 2015 season on Wednesday at the College of Holy Cross. The team will play Anna Maria College.
