UMass Boston to Play Connecticut College on Sunday

As the University of Massachusetts Boston celebrates its 50th anniversary, the men’s hockey team is preparing to host the 50th Annual Codfish Bowl Tournament.

The Beacons will host Connecticut College on Sunday with the winner taking on either Hamilton College or Lake Forest College in the championship game on Monday. The Codfish Bowl is the second oldest college ice hockey tournament in the country, started by former Boston State College athletic director James "Gus" Sullivan and coach Ed Barry in 1965.

The men’s hockey team (10-0) is ranked No. 5 in the USCHO.com poll and No. 6 in the D3Hockey.com Men’s Top 15 poll. This is only the second time in UMass Boston history that a program has started its season 10-0. Men’s lacrosse started the season 11-0 in 1997.

Women’s Hockey to Host 8th Annual Codfish Bowl Tournament Today

UMass Boston’s women’s hockey team will host SUNY Canton at 1 p.m. today in the eighth annual women’s Codfish Bowl Tournament.

Freshman Jane Morrisette of Pembroke leads the Beacons with four goals. She was named the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) East Co-Rookie of the Week on December 1.
