The Campus Center garage will close for the summer on June 3 in order for General Academic Building No. 1 crews to build a retaining wall between the garage and the site.

The new retaining wall is designed to create a new entranceway to the garage and keep back an additional five feet of soil that will elevate the GAB No. 1 site. Sheet piles and 16 concrete piles will be driven to support the weight of the wall.
The construction fences will be moved to expand the construction site. The stairs between the Campus Center and the site will be demolished and will no longer be accessible. Also, several yards of concrete sidewalk in this area will be removed and a temporary sidewalk will re-route pedestrians at the Campus Center circle. Exterior surface parking spaces will no longer be available between the toll booths and the Campus Center garage entrance.

The current handicapped parking spaces in the garage will be relocated to the South Lot and Beacons Lot for the summer. The Campus Center Garage is scheduled to reopen in the fall.

The remaining parking lots on the main campus (South, Beacons, Clark, B, C, and D) will be open this summer and should accommodate UMass Boston drivers.  If needed, the UMass Boston Bayside parking lot, which closed for the summer on May 25, will be used for overflow parking as needed and for special events, some on weekends.

Watch for future construction updates here on the UMass Boston website to stay up to date on campus changes.
