Chancellor J. Keith Motley: Good morning! The first day of school is an exciting time for all of us. It represents so many things for this university. It represents the future, it’s new life, it adds new energy to the campus. We’re excited, we look forward to this day.

Narrator: J. Keith Motley, Chancellor of UMass Boston.

Motley: Hello, good to see you, welcome back for the year!

Student: I can’t wait, I’m so excited.

Motley: That’s what I’m saying, me too! I love seeing the newbies - the freshmen who are first time college students coming here. They come here with a willingness to learn, and they’re going to learn from the greatest minds that you can have at a university in Boston. They’re excited about their possibilities, they understand hard work, so they have the right work ethic, and they come from everywhere.

Narrator: Visit us on the web at umb.edu.
