The entrance/exit to the Clark Parking Lot will be relocated temporarily beginning Monday. Drivers will be able to access the lot at the Clark Athletic Center Beacons Circle beginning October 31.
The change is expected to be in place for two weeks to accommodate construction work related to the new residence hall site. In addition, 35 parking spaces will be lost in the Clark Lot as they will become part of the construction zone.
Pedestrian access and pathways will also change. Signage will direct pedestrians around the work zone to an accessible walkway through the lot.
Drivers looking to park in the Clark Lot will be directed via Public Safety and signage to continue on beyond the current entrance/exit, take a right toward the Beacons Circle, and proceed around the full circle entering the lot. Handicap parking spaces will be maintained. Clark will remain a passes-only lot, with drivers presenting their passes upon exit.
Relocating the Clark entrance/exit gates is needed to realign University Drive North prior to construction of the residence hall.
Another change, anticipated to begin November 5, is that most of the Beacons Lot will close to provide space for additional soil management needs for the Utility Corridor and Roadway Relocation project. Additional information about this change will be sent to the campus community next week.
Although these changes will reduce parking spaces on campus, other parking spaces will be available at our Bayside Lot and satellite lots at St. Christopher’s on Mt. Vernon and the Herb Chambers property at 75 Morrissey Blvd.
Again, we encourage all who can use public transportation to do so, or to drive directly to Bayside or a satellite lot for more prompt shuttle service to campus. We apologize for the inconveniences created by these changes and do truly appreciate your support during this construction period.
