To allow for continued utility relocation work, the roadway to the Campus Center Garage and loading dock, as well as pedestrian pathways, have shifted east.

In preparation of the opening of the new University Drive North later this month, crews have completed paving at the intersection with Columbia Point Road, which leads to the JFK Library, EMK Institute, and Massachusetts Archives. The new University Drive North will extend from Lot D past Columbia Point Road and on toward the waterfront.

Also, the road leading to the Campus Center garage shifted closer to University Hall on November 4 as part of the ongoing utility work in this area. Vehicles may continue to access the garage and loading dock, but pick-up and drop-off in this area were discontinued in October. All ridesharing services and other vehicles should use the pick-up and drop-off area at the Integrated Sciences Complex. The Google pin address is Quinn Roadway. Pick-up and drop-off for people with disabilities continue at the temporary busway between the Campus Center near Wheatley Hall.

New temporary pedestrian walkways are in place from the Campus Center and University Hall to the temporary boardwalk along the west side of the Archives. Utility work behind the Campus Center will continue through the winter.

Elevator Replacements

A comprehensive elevator replacement project continues across campus. One new elevator is in service in Wheatley Hall, serving all floors from one to six. Two newly installed passenger elevators in McCormack Hall are awaiting state inspection and will be put in service once approved.

Crews have now begun the second phase of elevator work, which includes taking the other Wheatley elevator out of service. Replacements for the Wheatley freight elevator and a Quinn passenger elevator are also in progress. Both are scheduled to be fully operational by late January.
