Fall Semester Kicks Off with Welcome Week, Convocation

Every year, UMass Boston greets its students with dozens of "Welcome Week" activities. This fall's activities include a meet and greet with Chancellor J. Keith Motley, convocation, stand-up comedy with Michael Ian Black, and a movie night on the Campus Center lawn.

CONSTRUCTION STOPS

Sponsored by the Chancellor’s Office
Stop by for a drink, snacks, and fruit with a greeting from Chancellor Motley.

CENTER STAGE: FEATURING MICHAEL HARRISON

Michael Harrison is an extraordinarily talented ventriloquist, puppeteer and comedian. Michael recently took his talents to a new level when he appeared on America’s Got Talent, where he finished as one of the semi-finalists.

CENTER STAGE FEATURING: JOHNNY CARDINALE & MICHAEL IAN BLACK

In Johnny Cardinale’s stand-up act, he observes absurdities in life. He brings his guitar with him to poke fun at the music industry. Johnny has been compared to Adam Sandler and Jimmy Fallon.
Michael Ian Black is a multi-talented actor, screenwriter, author, stand-up comic, and filmmaker. Black’s most recent series is Michael and Michael Have Issues. He was one of the lead commentators on VH1’s I Love the... series.  He co-created, co-wrote, and starred in the acclaimed MTV sketch comedy show, The State.
