Geotechnical Borings Start Thursday in Lot B

To assist in design and preparation for future residence halls, four geotechnical borings will be performed at the perimeter of Lot B and in a construction zone across from the softball field starting Thursday and continuing for approximately two weeks, weather permitting.

Fewer than five total parking spaces per day will be lost. Two dump truck-sized drill rigs will bore 5 inch-wide holes, 200 feet deep.

Boring locations were chosen carefully and scheduled to minimize disruption to pedestrians and parking lots. The work is being performed in keeping with monitoring plans by the Environmental Health and Safety Office and the state Department of Environmental Protection.
