Dr. Julie Sieben '01, author of the new book Six Weeks to Love Running, will be a featured presenter at the New Balance Falmouth Road Race Health and Fitness Expo tonight at 6 p.m. A book signing will follow her talk at Falmouth High School Field House, located at 874 Gifford Street in Falmouth. On Saturday, August 17, Sieben and other athletes will “Run with Meb” – winner of the 2014 Boston Marathon - in the 41st Falmouth Road Race.
A staff member at Boston’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Sieben traverses the usual separation between allopathic and homeopathic medicine. At her private practice in Plymouth, she focuses on holistic health, lifestyle medicine and fitness. Sieben also has expertise in yoga, meditation, running, and strength training.
About Dr. Julie Sieben
Dr. Julie Sieben earned her undergraduate degree in exercise science/human performance and fitness from the University of Massachusetts Boston in 2001. She went on to earn her doctor of chiropractic at New York Chiropractic College. She was exposed to meditation at a young age and uses it mindfully in her private holistic chiropractic practice. She is a graduate of the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Workshop at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, which was spearheaded by Jon Kabat-Zinn, a leader and researcher in mindfulness.
Sieben is a trainer and fitness and yoga instructor. She travels nationally and internationally, training and certifying fitness professionals, and also maintains a private practice with a focus on holistic health, lifestyle medicine, fitness, and rehabilitation. She is an inspiring motivational speaker.
Six Weeks to Love Running includes a detailed program to get in shape for and begin running, as well as a program for walking. Sieben's work as a motivational speaker and her book teach readers how to stay motivated and inspired.
