Map showing the detour in place starting Monday, July 29.

Due to ongoing construction on General Academic Building No. 1. (GAB No. 1) and beginning construction on the Utility Corridor and Roadway Reconstruction project, campus traffic will be detoured around a section of University Drive North beginning as early as Monday, July 29. The detour will remain in effect for several months.

The section of University Drive that will be closed is between the GAB construction site (former North Parking Lot) and the Massachusetts Archives.

Signage will be in place to direct traffic to continue straight on University Drive East, past the Mass Archives, then take a left between the JFK Library parking lot and the Mass Archives, and then another left to return to University Drive North. (A campus map is available online.)

This closure allows for the expansion of the GAB No. 1 site for foundation pile driving and grading, followed by Utility Corridor and Roadway Relocation drainage work.

It is expected that this detour will cause minimal delays during this summer, when campus traffic is usually light. Beginning Sept. 3, however, the start of the new semester, we encourage everyone to use public transportation whenever possible, use Mt. Vernon Street to directly access Lot D Parking Lot, or go directly to the Bayside parking lot, which will have prompt and direct shuttle bus service to the Campus Center.
