Clark Lot Closed for Construction on Friday
The Clark Lot will close all day on Friday, September 2, to accommodate work on the Clark Convocation and Athletic Center gymnasium roof. Handicap parking spaces will be relocated to Beacons Lot, and pedestrian access will be maintained.
Work replacing the roof is underway and is expected to continue for the next several weeks. For a few days during the construction period, a crane will be staged in the Clark Lot. The roof replacement is needed to prevent water intrusion on the new gymnasium floor, lighting, and audio-visual systems.
More Utility Corridor and Roadway Relocation Work
Crews are also preparing a new entranceway for Lot D across from the Clark Lot near the Calf Pasture Pumping Station. The Mt. Vernon Street entrance will close for utility installation in early September.
Also next week the former Quinn Roadway ramp behind the rink and near the Service and Supply Lot will be demolished to accommodate future utilities. The ramp removal work should be completed in about a month, and will generate noise at times.
Crews doing utility work in the future residence hall site may be outfitted with personal protection equipment, in keeping with monitoring plans that comply with the state Department of Environmental Protection regulations. With all the construction activity on campus this fall, faculty, staff, students, and visitors should plan ahead when coming to campus. Parking spaces will be extremely limited, so using public transportation, or an alternative, is advised.
