Women’s Basketball Player Averages 20 Points, 13 Rebounds in 2 Games
Sophomore Olivia Murphy of Canton was named the Little East Conference Player of the Week after leading the women’s basketball team (11-6) to a 1-1 week. Murphy had 32 points and 19 rebounds in a 70-55 win over UMass Dartmouth. The Beacons travel to the University of Southern Maine today for a 5:30 p.m. start.
Track and Field
Senior high jumper Renee O’Brien of Stoneham has been named the LEC Field Athlete of the Week, while sophomore sprinter Hulerie McGuffie of Lynn has earned the LEC Track Athlete of the Week honors. O'Brien is tied for ninth in Division III following her jump of 5-05.00 feet at Friday's Boston University Terrier Classic. McGuffie set a program record in the 200-meter dash at the same event. The men’s team also did well, recording 15 personal bests. Both the men and women are back in action on Friday when they compete at the Tufts University Stampede Classic.
Women’s Ice Hockey
The women’s hockey team evened their record at 8-8-3 with a 3-1 win over St. Michael’s College on Saturday. Sophomore Alexa Cappione’s first collegiate goal proved to be the game-winner. The team travels to St. Nichols College on Friday.
The men’s basketball team (5-12) looks to get back on the winning track tonight at the University of Southern Maine. The Beacons were 0-3 this week.
Men’s Ice Hockey
The Beacons (13-4-2) dropped both games this week against No. 6 Babson College. They host Skidmore College Friday at 7 p.m.
